Phillip Rennick was called to the Bar in February of 2006 having been admitted as a Legal Practitioner in December 2004.

Prior to his admission as a Barrister, Mr. Rennick spent over 20 years with the Queensland Police Service working throughout Queensland, but primarily in Townsville in North Queensland. During his Police service he worked as a senior investigator within a variety of specialist squads within the Townsville Criminal Investigation Branch, Licensing Branch and Juvenile Aid Bureau, obtaining the rank of Detective Senior Sergeant. As a senior investigator, he performed supervisory roles over-viewing the conduct of investigations and prosecutions in relation to numerous serious criminal matters including Murder, Manslaughter Robbery, Rape and other major offences.

Prior to leaving the Queensland Police Service in April 2007, Mr Rennick worked in the legislation development unit within the QPS Legal Services Branch.

During his Police career, Mr. Rennick worked in close liaison with members of the Office of Director of Public Prosecutions (Qld), Commonwealth Prosecutions, Military Police, Liquor Licensing Division and other Statutory Investigative and enforcement bodies.

Mr Rennick’s main area of law in private practice is Family Law and Criminal Defence. However he has an interest in a number of other areas of law, including Liquor Licensing, Contract and Civil law matters.

He has a keen interest in social justice issues and volunteers his time to the Sun Coast Community Legal Centre. He is active in the Mooloolaba Surf Club, on the committee of the Sunshine Coast Crimestoppers and a member of the Queensland Retired Police Association.

Mr Rennick is married with three teenage children. He enjoys playing tennis and golf with friends when time allows.
