James is an experienced barrister committed to achieving the best possible outcomes on behalf of his clients.
James commenced his legal practice in England in 1996. He was called to the Bar in London in 1999. He was admitted as a lawyer in Australia in 2010 and joined the Queensland Bar in 2011.
During his many years at the private Bar in England and Wales, James developed a reputation for integrity, approachability and the highest quality of advice and advocacy. James had a successful and diverse practice including civil and commercial litigation, family and employment law, professional negligence, personal injury, medical negligence, statutory and common law torts, trading standards and all manner of criminal work. James represented national firms and was preferred Counsel for several governmental organisations.
James appeared in tribunals of many different jurisdictions including: the Court of Appeal, the High Court, the Employment Appeals Tribunal, the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority, the Parole Board, Court Martials and Inquests as well as numerous Crown and District Courts.
James has lectured other legal practitioners as part of their continuing professional obligations and assisted law students with their advocacy training.
In Australia, James was fortunate to be afforded the opportunity to head up the litigation department of a regional firm of solicitors. As Special Counsel he was exposed to a wide variety of contentious commercial and family matters providing him with a valuable period of transition prior to joining the Bar in Queensland.
James is married with three young children and lives on acreage in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.
