Professional Experience
Andrew Wallace practices predominantly as a Construction Law Barrister throughout Queensland. He has appeared in all of the mainstream jurisdictions from the Court of Appeal right down to the Commercial and Consumer Tribunal.
Andrew has extensive experience in construction litigation and more particularly in representing clients in the preparation of payment claims, payment schedules, adjudication applications and responses under the various Security of Payment regimes in Australia. Andrew also provides advice and representation in the Supreme Court for judicial reviews of Adjudicator’s Decisions and if need be, appeals to the Court of Appeal. His experience as Counsel and as an Adjudicator in the various Security of Payment regimes is called upon by many solicitors and Authorised Nominating Authorities throughout the eastern sea board of Australia.
Having commenced his working life as an apprentice carpenter and joiner and graduating to a qualified licensed builder, Andrew brings practical skills and knowledge that very few lawyers can bring to a construction dispute. This practical, hands-on knowledge is not learned, but acquired and often saves clients time and money through a pragmatic, no-nonsense approach to dispute resolution.
Andrew is one of the most experienced mediators currently serving on the Commercial and Consumer Tribunal (Building List) panel of mediators. He has mediated in excess of 200 disputes in the government and private sectors involving contracts between $100.00 - $10,000,000.00. He also mediates private disputes in all commercial fields, but particularly in the building and construction industry. Andrew’s legal, building and commercial experience enables him to assist parties in coming to a practical, legally binding resolution with minimal cost and in the shortest possible timeframe. Andrew has chambers on the Sunshine and Gold Coasts and conducts mediations in Brisbane City most weeks and is available to accept briefs as Counsel throughout Queensland.
